Are You a Good Candidate ?

Most women who seek breast augmentation are near or at their ideal weight, and are otherwise healthy. If you plan on having children in the near future, you do not have to wait to have breast augmentation. Breast augmentation may be right for you if you want to:

  • Increase the size of your breasts

  • Bring balance and proportion to your figure

  • Enhance the shape and projection of your breasts

If you also have sagging skin or are unhappy with the perkiness of your breasts, you may want to consider a breast lift in conjunction with breast augmentation. Dr. Arledge will help you decide if combining procedures is right for you.

“I don’t think of them as procedures; but as options I can offer my patients for transformation!”

          — Dr. Patricia Arledge

My Goal:
is to enhance your appearance
subtly and beautifully.

Your Procedure

During the procedure, Dr. Arledge will make a small incision underneath the breast and create a pocket for placement of the breast implant. Once the implant is placed, Dr. Arledge will close the incision, and send you on your way to recovery. The procedure takes anywhere from 1 to 2 hours to perform, depending on the specific approach.

Incision Options

Implant Options

During your consultation for breast augmentation Dr. Patricia Arledge will go over your options for breast implants and incisions during your procedure. In most cases, Dr. Arledge prefers using a discreet incision below the breast in the inframammary fold. This small incision is well-hidden and is hardly noticeable, while allowing for easy access to the interior chest anatomy. In some cases, Dr. Arledge may use an incision around the areolas (or the darker skin around the nipple). This is a decision Dr. Arledge will help you make.

Dr. Patricia Allege offers 2 main varieties of breast implants - silicone and saline filled. Silicone breast implants are filled with a silicone gel that is soft and malleable, which makes them feel more like real breast tissue. Saline implants are filled with saltwater that is safely and easily absorbed by your body in the event of an implant rupture.

Most women are ready to return to their everyday activities within one week after surgery. However, you should avoid heavy lifting and strenuous exercise for one month after surgery and should restrict your movements during the first few days. Swelling is very common with breast augmentation and will take a while to subside. Your breasts will also “settle” over time, falling into a natural position on the chest after sitting very high on the chest initially. You’ll be happy to know that the incision scars fade with time and become barely noticeable.

Results and Benefits

Most women are thrilled with their results after their procedure and are happy that they decided to undergo surgery. Many women are able to fill out clothing better and most importantly feel more confident in their appearances after surgery. Women find that even a moderate enhancement can bring balance and proportion to their figures.
